Do you feel like creating your own spooky pumpkin? First, ask an adult if he or she will help you. Next, you need some materials. You should get a large (20-30 cm diameter) pumpkin. At home, look for a sharp knife, a large spoon, and a small bucket or a bowl.
Then off you go. The best way is to ask an adult to cut out a hole the top. Simply pierce and then cut around in a circle. Try to turn the lid a bit, to remove it. Now you see many fibers and seeds inside the pumpkin. Excavate the pulp so you can put a candle in the pumpkin. For this, you take a (large) spoon and shovel the innards into the bowl or bucket. The wall of the pumpkin should be
as smooth as possible and the bottom as level as possible. Then you should give the pumpkin a little time to dry. In order for your pumpkin to look scary you must, of course, carve a ghastly grimace. Try cutting triangles into the wall for eyes and nose of the pumpkin. The easiest way to do this is to first stab the knife into the pumpkin and then continue cutting, as if it were a loaf of bread. For a terrifying mouth, cut a template from below and paint it first, then you can cut the pumpkin wall. Always be sure, however, that the pumpkin is stable enough. You must not press too hard or cut out large pieces. Otherwise, the wall may no longer hold up. When you're finished carving your pumpking you just need a small tea candle in the center. You can use matches to light the candle through the mouth (if it is large enough), or you can use long matches, if you have them at home.
Remember, do not play with fire. There should always be an adult present when you light the candle and when you have to find a good place for your scary pumpkin. You need a stable surface, it shall not ever be placed under a curtain or in front of an "open" window.
